Buffalo Grove, Illinois is known for Buffalo Grove Days, its five-day festival that ends on Labor Day, along with its village-owned golf courses. The village and the Buffalo Grove Park District put on the festival at Mike Rylko Community Park, 951 McHenry Road; the 2026 edition ran September 3 to 7 with a carnival and live music. The village owns two public golf courses, Buffalo Grove Golf Club and the Arboretum Club, and the park district runs the indoor Golf Dome in winter. It also sits in two counties: the village covers more than 9.25 square miles in Lake and Cook counties, about 35 miles northwest of Chicago.
